As they say in N'awlins "laissez les bon temps rouler". If you've never been to the Crescent City allow me to translate..."let the good times roll."

If you're a pilot then you might be thinking that the good times are rolling. In fact you might think that they rolled right over you and maybe you have the scars to prove it.

You may think that you can't make a living doing what you were born to do..fly airplanes.

You may think that's its time to hang up your wings and head to the corporate wasteland of cubicle city.

You may think those things but that is not the truth. In reality, air commerce is thriving. That's not to say certain segments of the industry aren't feeling pain but it is not ...I repeat not a doom and gloom scenario.

The days of the airline captain making a boatload of cash for 4 days work a month are gone but there are numerous positions that are challenging, exciting and financially rewarding.

The airlines are not the only game in town. In fact many pilots just might rekindle the passion of flight if they expanded their vision of what a flying career is.

Separate Yourself From The Crowd

Regardless, the key to getting the piloting career that you want is not solely about having the required experience. If this were the case than every Tom, Dick, and Harry who possessed the required hours would get the position. The bigger question is once you have the hours, whether that be 1500, 3000, or 6000 what separates you from the legion of other pilots who have similar experience.

Why should you be hired to fly a company's shiny airplane over Dave who has 1000 more hours than you or Sue who has 2000 more than you. What do you bring to the table? What is it about you that would make an employer be a fool for not hiring you?

Many pilots make the mistake of thinking that it's all about experience. I'm sure you've heard a variation of the following statement " I'll send out my resume when...".

Of course you need to have the minimums that the company requires (usually an insurance issue) bit once you have the minimums what is holding you back?

What makes you think that 1000, 2000, or 3000 more hours is going to greatly increase your odds of landing the job. I'm sure you know or know of pilots who barely had the minimums, but landed great flying positions.

Why them?

Why not you?

Pick Our Brains ...We Don't Mind

At Airplane Pilot Careers we speak with pilots everyday who are or have been where you are.

We consult with hiring managers, chief pilots and others who are responsible for hiring pilots. We pick their minds to find out what they look for (above and beyond the stated minimums) when they're in the process of hiring a pilot and we pass that information on to you.

Collectively, the people that we have relationships with have over 180 years of aviation experience and knowledge that's passed on to you.

Let Us Help You

Remember, having the minimum prescribed experience may get your foot in the door but that's not what you want.

You want the door to be held open so you can stroll inside, take a seat at the table, and feast on a 5 course meal.

If you haven't already, fill out the form above with your name and e-mail address.

I'll end with another Crescent City saying...Let's get this party started.

I just finished college with an accounting degree.

Aviation was always my first choice but I needed something to fall back on just in case.

I'm proud to say that after a little over a year of instructing i've landed a charter position flying a King Air.

I just wanted to let you know that the information that you provided helped me get my latest position...in a Lear 60.

Keep doing what you do and for all the aspiring pilots out there don't give up.
